Wood veneering which is an application of layers of decorative wood on top of solid cores such as plywood is used for panels on headboards and the side panels on furniture pieces. Wooden Bed Finishes
There are many types of finishes used on our wooden beds. The right finish adds the finishing touch and in essential to achieve the desires look. An appropriate finish adds the final touch of beauty to wooden beds. In order to achieve a uniform colour the application of several coats of laquer, oil , wax and paint can be used. This produces a clean finish allowing the grain variations and markings of naturally beautiful woods to show through and also adds a degree of protection. Hand-painted finishes as used on our French Beds and on all Frank Hudson Beds is an expensive and popular way of producing something truly timeless and beautiful. A very skilled and time consuming process hand painting is usually found on the more expensive pieces. Similar or as an addition to hand painting is a technique called distressing predominantly used for ageing new furniture and giving it a vintage look as on our stunning Lilly French Bed.
