Simple tips to freshen up your home decor for spring!
Now is the perfect time of year to spring into action and give your home décor a new lease of life!
During winter, many people enjoy hibernating and therefore making their interiors cosy and warm. Once spring comes along, it’s time to break out of that routine and create an airy and fresh environment.
If you want to give your home a new look and feel for spring but unsure on how to achieve it, then keep reading to discover some simple tips on freshening up your home décor for spring…
Embed the colour orange into your home décor.
Orange is always a popular colour around this time of year, as it will brighten up any space – even just with the odd touch of orange such as including an orange throw pillow or blanket.
According to Five Star Painting interior/exterior, the colour orange stimulates the brain, which then increases mental activity. Orange also makes people feel welcome, making it a good colour choice for living rooms, foyers or studies.
So, if you’re considering giving a room in your home a fresh lick of paint, consider going for a beautiful shade of orange this spring!
Shower your home with beautiful spring flowers.
Flowers are a treat all year round but especially during spring and summer. They can make any space feel instantly fresher and more aesthetically pleasing.
Jason Larson, President & Founder of Lars Remodelling & Design, discusses adding flowers to your interior to bring a new lease of life into a space. ‘’ Flowers, whether natural or artificial, are one of the most beautiful ways to decorate your home. Flowers make any room lighter, brighter and more alive.
Plus, you don’t have to stick with the tried and true floral pieces.
If you love daisies, decorate with daisies! Use flower-heads to decorate the dinner table or as a centerpiece. Flowers are an excellent way to show off your personality.’’
Be bold this season – go with palm and banana leaf prints.
Although fresh and neutral colours will always be a popular choice for anytime of the year, this season why not be a little more bold and playful with your interior?
You may have noticed that in most home décor stores bold leaf prints are really in-trend. So, this spring, embed more leaf print décor pieces into your interior – with pillows, rugs and ornaments.
Liam Walker, Head of Online at BestatFlooring, discusses the new trend in leaf print. ‘’Leaf print designs are all the rage this season, as are boho chic colours from the rich dark browns to dark greens, with yellows and pastels to give the room a pop of colour. Our range of leaf print rugs would be perfect for this time of year!’’
Marble is a huge trend for spring 2017!
Marble has increased massively in popularity over previous months, not just in interior design but also with general accessories and clothing.
Find a way to embed a marble pattern into your home décor this season. It doesn’t have to be a full bathroom renovation either, it could just be a nice marble patterned throw pillow or a marble patterned plant pot.
Lix Toombs, President and Founder of Polka Dots & Rosebuds Interiors, discussed with us how marble is right on trend this season.
‘’This Spring and into 2017 we will see the wallpaper trend go to the next level by using statement wallpapers as accent walls.
Marble is another trend that has gained speed recently so you may even see these trends combined with marble wallpaper. Geometric wallpapers are also very popular right now and make for great statements as well.’’
Change up your bedding for the warmer weather.
Although it may not be that warm yet, it’s only a matter of time before the weather changes. Therefore, now is the perfect time to change up your bedding ready for the warmer temperatures. Choose lighter material, as once the warmer weather kicks in you certainly won’t require those thick, winter duvets and blankets.
It could also be a good time to check the quality of your mattress. Does it need flipping? Maybe it’s even time for a brand new one?
Johnny Sacha, founder of Sueno, discusses changing up your bedding for spring. ‘’As soon as spring has sprung, it’s the perfect time to not only change up your home décor but to also freshen up your bedding. You may want to choose a lighter duvet for spring and summer than what you would go for during winter. Plus, you will probably find you have no need for those thick blankets which you’ve relied on during the colder months, so find suitable storage for them.
Additionally, whilst you’re changing up your bedding, check your mattress to see if it needs flipping or replacing. Spring is the perfect time to replace your mattress and bedding so you can enjoy a fresh and rejuvenating night’s sleep!’’
